User Guide

Welcome to AutoMedic

AutoMedic is a desktop app built for Windows and MacOS. It features agent tabs, an AI chat with streaming responses, browser automation, and local conversation history. This guide shows you how to use the app effectively.

Key Concepts

• Agent tabs: each tab runs its own assistant and tasks.
• Sidebar: quick access to Apps and your recent chats.
• Chat panel: write prompts, attach templates, and view progress.
• Templates Manager: create reusable notes in your Documents folder.

Sign In

Use the login screen to authenticate. Sign-out is available under Profile in the left sidebar.

Chat & Conversations

• Start a chat in any agent tab; messages stream in real-time.
• Conversation history persists locally and is grouped by session.
• Sidebar shows recent chats; click to reopen. Hover a chat to show a delete icon.
• Lazy-load older messages by scrolling to the top or using "Show earlier messages".

Templates Manager

• Open via the 'txt' icon under Apps, or from the attachment dropdown.
• Create, edit, and delete templates; they are saved to Documents/AutoMedic Templates.
• Attach templates to your chat; selected templates appear as chips.

Browser Automation

The agents have the ability to control browsers to perform tasks. Each agent tab launches its own instance of browser. User's default chromium based browser is used for this purpose. Please use Google chrome for best results. Following are some of the tasks that the agent can perform:

• Start a dedicated browser for the active agent.
• List open tabs in that browser.
• Switch to a tab by id.
• Close a tab.
• Navigate to a URL (optionally new tab).
• Type text into a CSS-selected element.
• Click an element by CSS selector.
• Interact by screen coordinates.
• Get text from a selector.
• List links on the page.
• Use OCR on the current screen.
• Scroll in a direction by an amount.

Tip: You can trigger the browser to launch directly via command pallete or by letting the assistant decide.

Agent Tools & Streams

• The status card shows tool activity (Processing/Ready) and summaries.
• Final summaries from tools display in highlighted cards.
• Use the Stop button to cancel ongoing streams.
• Stream lifecycle events (round start/end, tool call/result) are handled automatically.

Built-in Apps

Word Editor

Create and Edit .docx files. Work in a collaborative environment with AutoMedic's AI assistant.

Upcoming apps

AutoMedic will include further built-in apps to work inside the app with automation support:

• Sheets: Create and edit Excel spreadsheets.
• PDF Viewer: View and annotate PDFs.
• Tasks: Built in task manager that let's you delegate your daily tasks to the AI assistant.

These apps will integrate with the assistant, enabling actions across your documents.

Files & Attachments

• Use the paperclip dropdown to select templates or open Templates Manager.
• Selected templates appear as chips; hover to remove.
• Templates content is included with your prompt when you send.

Settings & Profile

• The Profile menu in the left sidebar provides Settings and Sign Out.
• Window controls are integrated for macOS and Windows.
• Access the User Guide from Profile at any time.
